By Tom Nichols Vice President, Wolf Creek Productions
Over the years, I have pretty much heard the best (or is it the worst?) in “guide talk.” So when my good buddy Rob Nye told me about “20-plus inch grayling on almost every cast” and “lake trout so thick you could walk across the river on their backs” I gotta admit I was suspicious.
Now, I have no reason to doubt Robbie. When he says something is going to happen, it usually does. As far as guides go, he might be the top producer of quality animals in front of the camera for Wolf Creek in the past few years. In addition to guiding for black bear and whitetails in Saskatchewan, Rob also guides anglers at Tukto Lodge in the Northwest Territories. After finally breaking me down with the guide talk, Rob got Team Wolf Creek up to the Arctic in July. For four days, we were treated to some of the hottest fishing on the planet. Wolf Creek president Steve Gruber was giggling like a kid. It was so silly that underwater cameraman Thaddius Bedford caught a 25 pound laker…with his hands! Steve could barely reel in the trophy grayling without 20 lb trout attacking them all the way to the boat.
If you want to see some of this ridiculous action, catch it on “Outdoor America” the week of September 3rd.
Then pick up the phone and call Bob Huittika at Tukto Lodge at 800-760-0924, or log on to www.arcticfishing.com.
If you like to catch fish, you need to see this with your own eyes to believe it!
And if you draw Rob as your guide, bring him a Detroit Red Wings hat.
